About us
Our father and father-in-law Cor Geerlings started his own dahlia nursery at the age of 22, just after the Second World War.
He settled in Heemstede on the edge of the bulb region, a stone's throw from the dunes. A region known for its geest soil. This sandy soil is extremely suitable for growing dahlias.
His first breeding success dates back to 1947, the year of birth of the famous water lily dahlia "Glorie van Heemstede".
Later many new acquisitions would follow such as; Cream Beauty, Yvonne, White Ballet, Pearl of Heemstede, Cornel, Jomanda, Ivanetti, etc.
Working with dahlias all his life has brought father Cor great successes and prizes.
He was very proud to be made an honorary member of the English Dahlia Society.
After his death in 2012 (see In Memoriam), the company was continued by his son Jan and daughter-in-law Elly.
Jan who has been involved in all activities at the nursery his entire life, initially under slight duress and later out of pure fascination for these beautiful flowers. It therefore did not take much to let this spark jump over to Elly who has been actively working at the nursery since 2010.
We put a lot of love and attention into our product. We still do most of the work by hand and that is why we dare to call ourselves a craft company. We do everything together. Jan works full-time in the company, Elly works in education three days a week in addition to her work at home. All of that, combined with our family, makes us very busy.
When you come to our garden, you will definitely bump into one of us. We are open to your questions and will answer you as best we can.
In short, we are a small company where things are done in an old-fashioned, accessible way.
We hope you will visit our show garden and feel welcome.
